Art in the Streets

Art in the Streets is the aptly named exhibit that is being shown at LA's MOCA right now. They claim that it is the first exhibit of it's kind, and although a very similar exhibit was shown at San Diego's MCASD, it is much bigger and very different than any other in the history of art. Not until recently has street art and graffiti been thought of as legitimate art, but with recent pieces by Banksy being auctioned at Sotheby's for about $472,000, a sign that things in the fine art world are changing. This is proof that the art world is starting to recognize that what they used simply consider a nuisance is now being shown in their galleries, and the cool thing is, people are willing to pay to see it.

Pictures of trains in New York during the 80's were printed onto sticker paper and then stuck onto a wall creating a collage of some of the best burners of that time period.

Overall I was very impressed with the exhibit. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to go to an art show that is different than what you may have attended in the past. The show has something for everybody and is awesome if you have any prior interest or knowledge of graffiti.

Vince in Ride BMX

I was looking through ride BMX a few months ago and stumbled upon this. It was taken at the Qualcomm pits near the stadium. Sick throwie by vince and a pretty sweet wallride as well. Props for getting up in a national magazine!

I have a small obsession with Nike SB shoes. With the coming of a new month there is a slew of new SB color ways, this being my favorite.

New MOCA exhibit looks sick
Really dope piece that I came across in Berlin. It was in an abandoned elevator factory that is completely graffed up. The only problem was that some greedy development company wanted to tear it down and develop it. Great spot to piece in, makes me sad to think of all of the pieces in there getting destroyed.
